Networking in Bucharest Without the Awkwardness: Olympic Dreams at Our April Social

If you could compete in an Olympic sport… what would it be?

Some of the answers from our April social:

• “Arguing with 5-year-olds.”
• “Running… but only after a glass of wine.”
• “Sleeping.”

A few respectable answers made it in too — tennis, football, figure skating. But you can tell which ones got the biggest laughs.

Where the real conversations started

The icebreaker was just the warm-up. The fun started after.

That night I met Elena Enache, who survived a deep-diving accident last year. Carmen Cristea-Barta, who works with NGOs helping kids in need. Mihai Zăinescu, whose dream superpower is time travel. And Rareș, who works in cybersecurity but secretly loves playing cards.

You don't learn any of that by asking someone for their job title.

A room full of strangers — for about an hour

25 people. Most of them strangers when they walked in.

By the end of the night, some were already making plans to meet up again the following week.

A couple of people even asked when I'm hosting a singles night.

(I'm thinking about it.)
