Reach Out — Privacy
Last updated 9 October 2026
Reach Out is an app by Eric Melchor (3rd Space Bucharest) that helps you stay in touch with the friends who matter. This page explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version. Reach Out stores the friends you add and the email address you sign in with. It does not read your phone’s address book, does not show ads, does not track you, and does not sell or share your data with anyone for advertising. You can delete everything from inside the app at any time.
What we collect
Your account. When you sign in, we store your email address, your name if your sign-in provider supplies one, and an internal identifier that links your account to your data.
The people you add. The names and, if you choose to enter them, the phone numbers of the friends you add to your list. You type these in yourself — Reach Out never reads your device’s contacts or address book, and does not ask for permission to.
When you last reached out. For each friend, the date of your most recent check-in, and how often you have asked to be reminded about them. This is what makes the reminders work.
The last day you used the app. A single date on your account, replaced each day you open the app. It exists only so the usage totals below count each person once per day.
We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not use third-party analytics services, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Usage totals
To understand whether Reach Out is helping, we keep anonymous totals per day: how many people used the app, how many new accounts were created, and how many check-ins were made, split by WhatsApp, voice note or call. These are counters only. They do not record who used the app, who reached out to whom, or when during the day, and they cannot be traced back to you.
How we use it
Only to make the app work — showing your list, deciding who to suggest next, and scheduling your reminders — and to produce the anonymous totals above.
Reminders are scheduled on your device. They are local notifications created by your phone (iPhone or Android). We do not run a server that sends you push notifications, and the timing of your reminders is not visible to us.
Message suggestions and AI
When you ask Reach Out to draft a message, we send the friend’s first name and how long it has been since you last contacted them to OpenAI, which generates the suggested wording. We do not send phone numbers, your email address, your message history, or anything else about you. We do not use your data to train any model.
If you would rather not use this, simply write your own message — the suggestion is editable and can be cleared.
Feedback you send us
If you use Send feedback in the app, it opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. We receive whatever you write, your email address, and the app version and platform (iPhone or Android) included at the bottom, so we can match a report to the right version. We use it only to reply and to improve Reach Out.
Who else touches your data
- Hercules — hosts our backend and handles sign-in. Your account, your friends list and the usage totals are stored on their infrastructure.
- OpenAI — receives only what is described above, only when you request a suggested message.
That is the complete list. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
WhatsApp and phone calls
When you send a message, record a voice note, or make a call, Reach Out hands off to WhatsApp or your phone’s dialer. It does not send anything on your behalf and cannot see what you write or say. Once you are in WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies.
Deleting your account
Go to Account → Delete Account in the app. This immediately and permanently deletes your account record, everyone on your list, and their phone numbers, and cancels every reminder scheduled on your device. It cannot be undone. The anonymous daily totals are not linked to you, so they remain.
One thing to be precise about: this deletes all of your data from Reach Out, but the login itself is managed by our sign-in provider, Hercules, and their record that an account once existed for your email address may persist on their systems. If you want that removed as well, contact us at the address below and we will request it on your behalf.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, object to how it is processed, and receive a copy in a portable format. Deleting your account in the app satisfies erasure directly. For anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Our legal basis for processing is the performance of the agreement between us — you gave us this information so the app could do the thing you installed it for. For the anonymous usage totals, it is our legitimate interest in knowing whether the app is being used, which involves no data that identifies you.
Children
Reach Out is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you in the app.
